For example, in communities in which police and community relationships are strained, departments may implement a community policing strategy that places more officers on foot patrol to increase communication between police and the community. The strategy is the increase of officers on foot patrol which would be followed by an analysis to determine if it was effective in building community relationships. For the assessment (estimation, judging) of the effectiveness, do not collect your own data. Please use information in the form of a departmental report, or data collected by the department (or the department’s evaluator if it is a grant) to discuss the impact that the model or practice had on the problem.
